ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“Timeless Currents” explores the ongoing interplay of tradition and modernity in Indian art, showcasing how heritage and contemporary experiences shape each artist’s vision. Featuring works by Arpana Caur, Jayasri Burman, Krishen Khanna, Manu Parekh, Paresh Maity, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Seema Kohli, and Vinita Karim, this exhibition captures the evolution of cultural narratives within Indian art.

Arpana Caur’s Day and Night series delves into duality and spirituality, presenting the cycles of existence with symbolic depth and folk influences. Jayasri Burman’s Guru Nanak reflects reverence and mythology, using vibrant color and intricate details to embody divine presence.

Krishen Khanna’s Bandmaster sculpture brings to life the intensity and emotion of his figures, capturing the essence of music and performance as a metaphor for life’s rhythms. Manu Parekh’s Banaras Ghat series mirrors the spiritual fervor of Banaras, using rich color and dynamic form to explore themes of life, death, and devotion.

Paresh Maity’s Purity evokes a meditative experience inspired by his travels, where fluid brushwork and a vivid palette celebrate the richness of landscapes and the diversity of humanity. Sanjay Bhattacharya’s urban-inspired works capture architectural realism, inviting quiet reflection on place and memory with subtle light and shadow.

Seema Kohli’s compositions celebrate feminine mysticism and fertility, using intricate symbolism to explore divine feminine energy and life cycles. Vinita Karim’s landscapes, inspired by waterways and cityscapes, blend memory with imagination, creating ethereal, layered scenes that feel both real and dreamlike.

“Timeless Currents” brings these artists together to explore the continuity of tradition and personal storytelling, presenting an evolving vision of India’s artistic journey that bridges past and present, uniting diverse voices in a collective experience of heritage and innovation.
